Red Sox could promote minor league manager to big league staff

After the Boston Red Sox missed the postseason in 2024, following an 81-81 regular season, it's not surprising that changes had to be made.

Boston dismissed six members of their coaching staff this week, leaving some spots open for new blood in the 2025 season.

While the Red Sox may look outside the organization to fill these holes, there's just as good of a chance that they promote from within. In fact, MassLive's Sean McAdam reported that a source indicated that the team will consider just that.

One option for a promotion that McAdam mentioned was Triple-A manager Chad Tracy.

Tracy, 39, played collegiately at Pepperdine University.  The Texas Rangers selected Tracy in the third round in 2006, but he never made it to the MLB. He also spent time in the minor leagues with he Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles.

He also played for the United States national baseball team in the 2011 Baseball World Cup.

After he retired, Tracy managed in the Los Angeles Angels farm system and spent time as their minor league field coordinator. He's been the Worcester Red Sox manager since 2021.
