Wake Forest struck first in Saturday’s game against Clemson with a first-quarter touchdown pass, but the 10th-ranked Tigers answered back with touchdowns of their own on their next two possession to take a 14-7 lead in the second frame.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik connected with receiver Antonio Williams for a 22-yard touchdown pass, evening the game up at 7 less than two minutes into the second quarter.

It was an eight play, 75-yard drive for Clemson. The key play that helped lead to the touchdown was a 19-yard pass from Klubnik to receiver Troy Stellato on third-and-7 from the Wake Forest 46.

Klubnik’s touchdown pass to Williams also came on a third-down play (third-and-5).

Clemson then went ahead, 14-7, on its next possession thanks to a 1-yard touchdown run by Phil Mafah at the 12:34 mark of the second period.

It took the Tigers just two plays to get into the end zone following an interception by Kylon Griffin that set Clemson up at the Wake Forest 23-yard line.

An impressive catch-and-run by tight end Jake Briningstool set up Mafah’s score.
