As the Texas Longhorns turn back to Quinn Ewers at quarterback over Arch Manning, the program is being made aware of the challenges of having two stars at the position. College football analyst David Pollack weighed in on his experience playing during a quarterback controversy.

The former ESPN analyst wonders if there could be potential tension from some of the receivers who may prefer Manning over Ewers. Pollack spoke at length about the Texas quarterback battle ahead of the Red River Rivalry matchup versus the Oklahoma Sooners.

“What that leads to maybe a divide in the team now," Pollack pondered during an Oct. 10 edition of his podcast. "Because one thing I can promise you, bro, like after being on [D.J.] Shockley and [A.J.] Green teams [at Georgia] and being on different teams. Receivers like certain guys, because they're going to get fed.

"Running backs like certain guys, the upperclassmen obviously is usually guys they like the most. But the ones that can feed them, they're like, ‘I can get big numbers with this cat. So, I'm kind of here.’ So does that create anything? I don't think Ewers or Manning is gonna cause it, but sometimes that QB thing can linger and be a deal.”

After playing a significant role on the Longhorns offense the last three games, Manning is expected to move back to the bench. Texas announced that Ewers was cleared to play against Oklahoma after being sidelined with a shoulder injury.
