Jacksonville, AL – Dog lovers and their furry friends are in for a treat as the Jacksonville Parks & Recreation and the City of Jacksonville present Barktober, a Halloween-themed event designed especially for dogs. Set to take place at Germania Springs Dog Park on Wednesday, October 16th, at 1 p.m., this free event promises fun and excitement for both canines and their owners.

Barktober invites participants to get into the Halloween spirit with a variety of activities that showcase the unique talents and personalities of local dogs. One of the highlights of the day will be the Costume Contest, where pups can strut their stuff in their most adorable, spooky, or creatively themed costumes. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed dogs, making it a competitive and entertaining showcase.

In addition to the costume contest, dog owners can showcase their pets’ skills in the Tricks Competition. Whether it’s a simple high-five or an elaborate routine, this competition is an opportunity for canine companions to shine and demonstrate their impressive abilities. Participants are encouraged to bring their A-game and show off what their furry friends can do.

Another exciting feature of Barktober is the Treats Hunt, where dogs can use their keen sense of smell to locate hidden goodies throughout the park. This activity promises to be a delightful adventure, engaging dogs and allowing them to enjoy a playful and rewarding experience.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate our love for dogs in a festive and fun atmosphere,” said a representative from the Jacksonville Parks & Recreation Department. “We can’t wait to see the creativity in costumes and the impressive tricks that our local dogs will showcase!”

Barktober is not only a chance to enjoy a day filled with laughter and joy but also a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow dog enthusiasts. Owners are encouraged to bring their cameras to capture the memorable moments and the adorable antics of their pets throughout the day.

With no admission fee, Barktober is an event that promises to be accessible to all. So mark your calendars for October 16th, and prepare for a howling good time at Germania Springs Dog Park, located at 540 Roy Webb Rd, Jacksonville, AL 36265. Don’t miss out on this spook-tacular celebration for dogs and their devoted owners!
