Cowboys urged to land ex-Eagles Pro Bowler in deadline swap

The Dallas Cowboys could use a boost in the running back room.

Things haven't gone exactly as planned for the Cowboys so far this season, and it could make some sense to add a little more to the running back room. Luckily for the team, there will be some players available in the not-so-distant future.

The 2024 National Football League trade deadline is quickly approaching and will come and pass on Nov. 5. Dallas certainly could get a deal done ahead of the deadline if it saw fit. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin put together a list of trades for each team ahead of the trade deadline and floated former Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowler and current Carolina Panthers running back Miles Sanders as a fit in a trade.

"Dallas Cowboys," Benjamin said. "Acquire (running back) Miles Sanders from the Carolina Panthers. Jerry Jones didn't want to pay for Derrick Henry, so he might require Carolina to eat some of Sanders' deal. But the former Eagles standout would at least give Dak Prescott more proven run support."

Sanders is a one-time Pro Bowler and spent the first four years of his career with the rival Eagles. He has spent the last two seasons with the Panthers but certainly could be on the move. His last season with Philadelphia was 2022, and he had just under 1,300 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. He hasn't had that level of production ever since but also hasn't had the same type of role.

Maybe a trade to Dallas could help get him back on track.
