Kayla Nicole Once Dressed Up as an Ex’s New GF, Teyana Taylor Claps Back With Taylor Swift Song

Kayla Nicole revealed that she once dressed up as an ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend for Halloween, and it seems as though the girlfriend in question has clapped back with a Taylor Swift song.

“I was dating a guy and he dumped me through a text message. He dumped me for a singer/actress who was famous at the time. Dumped me for her, lied about it for months, then popped out with her and it became this public thing, like, ‘Oh my God, we love them,’” Kayla, 32, told the host of the “ Unapologetically Angel ” Angel Reese during the Thursday, October 10, episode. “They’re like [a] celebrity, iconic relationship. Of course, little old me, I’m devastated, I’m heartbroken. I had just moved to New York to, like, be with this person and move in with them. It was a whole thing.”

The influencer continued, “So, he breaks up with me, dumps me, moves on, and for Halloween that year, I dressed up as [the new girlfriend.] I dressed up as that lady for Halloween! It went viral; it was everywhere.”

Kayla also added that the photos of her in the costume went viral before she had gained a huge following on Instagram. When Angel, 22, asked if the ex called Kayla out on her antics, she laughed and confirmed that he “called [her] crazy.”

Fans quickly uncovered the photos of Kayla dressed up as Teyana Taylor in Kanye West’ s music video for his song “Fade.” The sports journalist previously dated NBA star Iman Shumpert but began dating Teyana, 33, in 2013. The couple tied the knot in 2016 before separating in 2023. Teyana, however, didn’t let Kayla’s admission slide without a clapback of her own.

“F--k the Iman part, I'm divorced and happily so, however her choice of words were very distasteful and uncalled for. She knew exactly what she was doing. That lady said "she was famous at the time" also said "idc who see it" it was very distasteful & uncalled for. Most importantly she knew people would dig,” Teyana wrote in a comment via Instagram, per The Shade Room . “So automatically my name is attached to the nonsense. At that point, she didn't need to ‘@’ me, that was clearly a quick search. My name was trending without an @ before even saying a word. That's how I seen it! lol On top of the fact that the math wasn't mathing & the facts weren't fact'ing. However, the level of cringe factor was. Lol. I'm finding out just like the world that her intentions were ill and petty. She pulled the black card when it came to Taylor Swift, but in the same circle, turned around and tried to bully the black woman that was married to her situationship she claimed ‘dumped her’ for me. Dressing up like me for what??”

The actress continued, “Crazy part about it all is, I actually showed love under her pic when she posted it! Like I did the other 3736262626 people that dressed up as me for Halloween. Whole time I ain't even know she was being shady. Now I do. So in that case petty panties on had my lil fun I said what I said & now im done and headed back to set!”

Teyana also posted a carousel of photos showcasing her upcoming projects, including a role in Paul Anderson’s 2025 film alongside Leonardo DiCaprio . People originally reported that the images were set to Taylor’s “Shake It Off,” but the music has since been removed.
