Demand Grows For Legendary College Football Coach To Be Fired After Fourth Straight Loss

After winning their first three games of the 2024 college football season, the North Carolina Tar Heels have taken a turn for the worst over the past month, losing their last four games, including a loss to James Madison, allowing 70 points to the Dukes on their home turf.

Week 7 wasn't much different as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated UNC 41-34 at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, NC.

Georgia Tech could do no wrong on offense, especially on the ground. In total, the Yellow Jackets had 371 rushing yards and five scores. Running backs Jamal Haynes and Haynes King had over 100 yards and two scores each. Georgia Tech even scored a 68-yard TD run with 15 seconds left to take the lead and secure the win.

Since coach Mack Brown joined the Tar Heels in 2019, the program has made a bowl game in every season, but they have only won one. A common theme for Brown's teams has been failing to get over the hump. Each season, UNC seems to have high hopes and each season, they are let down.

Even with former star quarterback Drake Maye, the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, North Carolina failed to reach expectations. They did make the ACC Championship in 2022, but that season ended in disappointment as well, with a blowout loss to Clemson in the title game and a bowl loss.

With this year's start, the clock may be ticking for the 73-year-old coach. Following the Georgia Tech loss, many UNC fans have taken to social media to demand the dismissal of Brown.

"Been said Mack brown needs to be fired," one fan said.

"North Carolina just had the most insane loss of the season. Mack Brown cannot be the coach in 24 hours"

"North Carolina HC Mack Brown needs to be fired within 5 minutes of the end of the game. If you watched the last 4 Tar Heel games you know."

"Mack Brown absolutely cannot be back with the Tar Heels next season."

    "Fire Mack Brown!!!"

Even with Brown's struggles during his second stint with UNC, he will still go down as one of the best coaches we have ever seen. During his time with the Texas Longhorns, Brown led his team to a 2005 national championship win and won the Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Award in the same season. During his first stint with UNC, Brown also won the 1996 ACC Coach of the Year.

In 2018, during a six-year break from coaching, Brown was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and made his return to the field the following year.
