Colorado's Denver International Airport Celebrates New Gate Expansion on Concourse A

Denver International Airport (DEN) has officially opened its latest gate expansion area, enhancing travel options for millions of passengers. Earlier this month, DEN and Denver-based Frontier Airlines unveiled a newly remodeled and expanded 120,000-square-foot area of Concourse A, following a $220 million investment that was completed on time and within budget.

The construction of this state-of-the-art facility began in summer 2022, featuring 83,000 square feet of remodeled space and 37,000 square feet of new concourse expansion. The area, divided into two parallel corridors, provides access to six new gate waiting areas, nine remodeled gates, and five new gates, totaling 14 gates. Limited operations in the north corridor began in February 2024, with the entire area fully operational as of October 1, 2024. The expansion also includes office space and an 8,000-square-foot airline maintenance facility.

“Completing the Concourse A-East expansion project marks a major milestone in our effort to serve 100 million annual passengers within the next several years,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. He praised the team's dedication to completing the project while maintaining a commitment to growth.

The new area boasts a range of customer-friendly features, including charging stations, a nursing room, a pet relief area, a family restroom, and a companion care room. Dining options include Snarf’s Sandwiches, Brothers BBQ, Breckenridge Brewery, and a CNBC shop, with plans for an additional food and beverage concept by mid-2025.

“We are very excited about the expansion on Concourse A and look forward to providing a great experience for our customers,” said Alex Clerc, senior vice president of customers for Frontier Airlines.

Travelers can access the new Concourse A-East expansion via escalators near Gate A53, leading to Gates A54 – A84 in either corridor.
