Demand Grows for College Football Coach's Dismissal After Saturday's Loss

The 2024 campaign hasn't exactly gone the way Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies were hoping it would, and that continued in Week 7 with a blowout 40-16 loss at the hands of Iowa.

As if seeing their record fall to 4-3 wasn't bad enough, Washington was favored to win this game, and was fresh off an upset victory over Michigan in Week 6, so hopes were high they'd be able to pull out a victory in this one.

Instead, they got smoked, and it certainly is not a good look for Fisch and company. With another disappointing defeat in the books, calls for Fisch to get canned by the Huskies have reached an all-time high, as fans are furious with him after this loss to Iowa.

Pretty much every move Fisch made against Iowa was questioned by fans on social media. @evan_feather claimed on X, formerly Twitter, that Fisch "calls plays like he's playing Madden."

@life_of_stein pleaded with Fisch to "stop having your best WR returning punts," fearing that star wide receiver Denzel Boston would suffer an injury in that role.

@TheDigitalDam is already preparing for life without Fisch, saying "It's going to be funny when Jedd Fisch leads Washington to a 4-8 season, still leaves to Florida next year, and guts the entire recruiting class for Washington."

Losing a slew of talented players, such as Michael Penix Jr. and Rome Odunze, to the NFL certainly hasn't helped Fisch, but he hasn't done himself any favors, as Washington cannot seem to get out of their own way.

The good news is the Huskies will have extra time to recover from this one, as their next game isn't until Week 9. Unfortunately, they will be taking on the 18th ranked Indiana Hoosiers, so bouncing back from this loss could prove more difficult to do than Fisch and company would like.

You can’t lose half your team and completely new staff and expect gold. You beat Michigan and they’re in the same boat.
