Classic, tender chocolate chip cookies recipe: Your go-to cookie recipe

Chocolate chip cookies are such a classic. These are one of my favorite cookies. So simple, delicious, tender and the chocolate is rich and tastes amazing.

This is a staple dessert in my home.

These are soft, tender and chewy. So good.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chunks

    Directions

    • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
    • Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until creamy and well combined.
    • Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
    • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
    • Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
    • Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
    • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. The edges should be set, but the centers may look slightly underbaked.
    • Cool: Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
    • Enjoy: Serve warm or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
