Karl-Anthony Towns was a top overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2015. He always had high expectations throughout the first nine years of his NBA career.

The same cannot be said for New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.

A former second-round pick from 2018, Brunson had to scratch and claw for every opportunity earned in his career whether it was with the Dallas Mavericks, or with the Knicks.

Despite his low draft standing, Brunson's emergence as a superstar in the NBA hasn't surprised many across the league.

Including his new teammate in Towns.

“I’ve always watched him from afar. I’ve been a fan of his game. I think that he’s one of the most talented players in this league," Towns said. “Nothing has really surprised me because my respect for him has already been tremendously high. Honored to be able to play with him.”

Towns was traded to New York just a few weeks before the start of training camp from the Timberwolves. In the organization's eye, pairing Brunson with a top-center will only help enhance the guard's skill.

It could also be the thing that New York needed to catapult themselves to become the top team in the NBA.

Whatever the case, the Knicks are thrilled that the Towns and Brunson connection is off to as good a start as they are.
