    Ingredients

    For brownies:

    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

    For spider web topping:

    • 1 cup white chocolate chips (or candy melts)
    • 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil (optional, to thin the chocolate)
    • Chocolate candies or chocolate chips (for spiders, optional)

    Directions

    • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
    • Make the Brownie Batter:
      • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
      • Mix in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
      • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
    • Bake the Brownies: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
    • Prepare the Spider Web Topping:
      • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. If it’s too thick, add a little vegetable oil to thin it out.
    • Decorate the Brownies:
      • Once the brownies are cool, spread a thin layer of melted white chocolate over the top.
      • To create the spider web design, use a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a small corner cut off to pipe concentric circles over the brownies. Start from the center and work your way outwards.
      • Use a toothpick or a skewer to drag lines from the center circle outward, creating a web effect.
    • Add Spiders (Optional): If you’d like, place chocolate candies or chocolate chips on top to resemble spiders.
    • Let Set: Allow the chocolate to set before cutting the brownies into squares.
    • Serve and Enjoy: Your Spider Web Brownies are now ready to be enjoyed! Perfect for Halloween gatherings or spooky-themed parties!
