The No. 1 Texas Longhorns went head-to-head against the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners in Week 7, competing in the annual "Red River Rivalry" showdown.

Texas took home a 34-3 victory after coming into the matchup as a 14.5-point favorite . The Longhorns were led by a masterful performance from their defense and quality play from quarterback Quinn Ewers in his first game back from injury.

Ewers and the Longhorns had a dominant performance from start to finish. They went into the locker room with a 21-3 lead and forced three scoreless quarters from the Sooners.

While Ewers was productive in the matchup, finishing the game with one touchdown and 199 yards and completing 20-of-29 pass attempts, fans believe backup quarterback Arch Manning should have gotten some playing opportunities.

Some fans called for Texas to bench Ewers for Manning, but others just insisted that Manning should have been playing in the second half when the game was settled.

"At this point, I'd honestly let arch get some snaps lol," said one fan.

"Let arch get next drive," said another fan.

"Ok, let’s stop ou one more time. Put in Arch to finish the game pretending he will just hand the ball off. Deep shot. Come on Coach." mentioned one fan.

"Feels like Texas needs to go back to Arch." commented one fan.

"Texas is better with Arch than they are with Quinn." said one fan.

"Texas put arch in enough let’s go." said another fan.

Ewers was playing in his first game since the Longhorns took on UTSA in Week 3. During that 56-7 victory for Texas, Ewers suffered an injury that was later classified as an oblique strain.

While the veteran signal-caller was rehabbing his injury on the sideline, Manning had the keys to Texas' offense.

Manning finished the game against UTSA, posting five total touchdowns and 276 yards.

He followed that with a decent performance against Louisiana-Monroe in Week 4. During a 51-3 victory for the Longhorns, Manning recorded two touchdowns and 258 yards while posting a 51.7 completion percentage and throwing two interceptions.

In his most recent start, a 35-13 victory over Mississippi State, Manning produced two touchdowns and 325 yards, completing 26-of-31 pass attempts.

While Ewers came into the year as a Heisman candidate and helped lead the Longhorns to a 6-0 record with a couple of ranked victories, some fans believe the team is better off with Manning as the starter.

Manning was ready for the bright lights when his number was called this season, but the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2023 will likely keep waiting for his turn.

Ewers has proven he can lead the Longhorns to national title contention, and his veteran leadership may be exactly what Texas needs as they sail through the season.
