Coldest air mass of the Autumn season so far spreading across the East & Deep South Week Ahead

Cold Front Arrives With Coldest Air of the Autumn Season For The Week Ahead

IWe are sitting today with an east west cold front that runs across Northern Pennsylvania to Central New England and a wave of low pressure is moving along that frontal boundary. Today will be one of those days where if you are north of a line from Philadelphia, NYC and Long Island you will be sitting in lots of clouds. If you are further north of Route 80 in Pennsylvania or Route 84 in NY and Southern New England you will see some showers from time to time and even the chance for an isolated thunderstorm.

If you live in the areas to the north in the clouds and showers, you will likely see temperatures this afternoon not get out of the middle and upper 60s for highs. However if you are in Southeast Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and points southward, you will likely see some periods of sunshine or at least breaks in the cloud cover. Temperatures here will reach into the low and middle 70s.

Tonight into Monday morning as the front passes there could be a few passing showers or even the chance for an isolated thunderstorm. Otherwise we will wait for winds to shift to the northwest Monday and this will begin the process of colder air spreading southeast from Central Canada and the Great Lakes. Look for changeable sky conditions Monday with a gusty wind developing and temperatures settling in the upper 50s and lower 60s for highs.

Cold air will take hold Monday night and it will cover the Eastern US as well as the Deep South and Southeast US Tuesday into Friday morning. High pressure will build across this entire zone and you will notice that there is little to no precipitation this week across much of the nation. A dry weather pattern has taken hold this morning outside of Florida where we saw Hurricane Milton move through last week.

Many areas across the Eastern US will see lows in the 30s and 40s Tuesday morning and there will be numerous frost advisories and freeze watches and warnings that will be going up in the coming days. Tuesday will be a day of sunshine and patchy clouds with a gusty northwest wind continuing. Temperatures across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England will not get out of the 50s. This will continue with a cold Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and again Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Lows will be in the 30s inland and low to mid 40s coast and warmer urban areas. Cold spots inland will be down to freezing or below. Wednesday will be sunny and again highs not out of the 50s. We should see sunshine take highs into the lower 60s Thursday and possibly a little higher Friday.
