One of the rarest delights when watching Saturday Night Live is a sketch that's so funny not even the cast can't keep it together. Moments of the cast breaking character become instant classics. Remember when Lindsay Lohan and co. couldn't stop laughing during the infamous Debby Downer sketch , or more recently in the Beavis and Butt-Head sketch with Ryan Gosling where Heidi Gardner completely lost it after seeing her cast mate’s wild prosthetics.

In this week's episode of the sketch show, Andy Samberg returned to play the role of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff during the cold open, but he and Kamala Harris impersonator Maya Rudolph also appeared in another sketch together later on in the night. The premise of the scene was pretty absurd and harkened back to sketches from the early 2000s. Set during the Italian renaissance, the sketch see's this week's host Ariana Grande played the young son of Samberg and Rudolph. The veteran SNL stars bring their son in front of a prince to show off his unique singing ability and then reveal the... shall we say, extreme measure they've used to ensure his voice stays high-pitched.

The prince and his court ( Andrew Dismukes , James Austin Johnson , and Kenan Thompson ) take turns asking the parents questions, and when Thompson is up to bat, Samberg can’t help but mess with his old cast mate. Instead of calling him by a character name, he flat-out calls him “Kenan” live on air. During his 22 seasons on the show, Thompson has proved time and time again that he is the ultimate professional, so watching him trip up and break character is a rare treat that made the audience howl with laughter. Who knew all it took to trip up Kenan was to say his name.
