'This has been litigated': CNN's Dana Bash shuts down MAGA lawmaker's PA election claims

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) tried to make the case that Pennsylvania violated its own election laws during the 2020 presidential election, only to be quickly shut down by CNN's Dana Bash.

After being asked by Bash about whether he would certify the results of the 2024 presidential election, Donalds tried to deflect the question and said that "as long as states and jurisdictions follow election procedures in their states, there will be no problem for me or anyone on Capitol Hill."

"Well, that's a giant loophole that you're leaving there," observed Bash. "There's no evidence that has... happened. It didn't happen in 2020."

"That's actually not a loophole," objected Donalds. "If you look at what happened in Pennsylvania, Arizona and other jurisdictions... it did not follow election procedures passed by the state legislature."

"There is no evidence of widespread fraud that went through, what, 60 court cases..." replied Bash.

"Dana, I did not say fraud," said Donalds. "What I'm talking about, and if you want to talk about it let's be clear, you had the state of Pennsylvania where the State Supreme Court said they would count ballots three days after the polls closed in Pennsylvania in 2020. That's a violation of state law!"

"Congressman, this has been litigated," Bash shot back. "And I'm sure a lot more of it will be litigated."

In fact, the case of the Pennsylvania ballots was brought before the United States Supreme Court ahead of the 2020 election, and the court allowed the Pennsylvania's State Supreme Court ruling to stand .
