Casa Grande Bar & Grill Midtown, a Mexican restaurant in Tallahassee, Florida, temporarily closed following a routine inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation on September 30, 2024. The establishment, located at 1800 Thomasville Road Ste 21, was cited for seven violations, including three high-priority infractions.

On a positive note, though, state records revealed that the Leon County eatery was allowed to reopen after a follow-up inspection on October 8, 2024, which cleared the establishment of all violations.

One customer, Cory, shared a positive experience: "Tacos were good. Wasn't expecting the drinks to be so big. They were really good. And great prices."

The initial inspection, conducted on September 30, 2024, identified three high-priority and four basic.

The high-priority violations proved particularly challenging, requiring quick corrective action. These included the presence of live roaches in a reach-in cooler, with the inspector acknowledging observing approximately 10 live roaches on a reach-in cooler in the kitchen area.

Additionally, a stop-sale order was issued on items (a repeat violation), while the failure to properly cool food prepared at the recommended temperature within the required four-hour window also obtained attention.

The inspector's note also revealed basic violations involving wet, incorrectly stored containers, an expired food service license, and the discovery of dead roaches and a gap in an exterior door.

The quick rectification of these issues, as evidenced by the follow-up inspection's zero-violation report, speaks to the restaurant's responsiveness and willingness to provide a healthy food environment to its customers.

Despite the inspection results, Casa Grande Bar & Grill Midtown maintains a 4.1-star rating from 280 Google reviews.

    High Priority Violations:

    • Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found
    • Stop Sale issued on time/temperature management for safety food due to temperature misuse
    • Time/temperature management for safety food not cooled to 41 degrees Fahrenheit within 4 hours
