The Buffaloes had established a four-point lead at that point in proceedings before Jayce Brown's 50-yard touchdown flipped the game on its head.
It appeared that the Wildcats players were in the mood to celebrate as they ended their opponents' three-game winning streak in dramatic circumstances. Reflecting on a memorable win on the road, Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson spoke in glowing terms about the performance, as he paid tribute to his teammates. He said: "Ultimately you’ve just got to make plays in big moments. Ultimately, that’s what our guys did."
Meanwhile, "Prime Time" gave his own observations on the loss as he said: "Sometimes when you lose in life, you get your butt kicked and you've just got to take.
"Sometimes you lose, you say, ‘Dang, we should’ve won that. We should've had that'. That was one of those types of games. That's not taking anything away from our opponents because they played their butts off."
Ruing injuries during the contest, he continued: "Certainly, losing Travis and Jimmy and others was tremendous because they’re a vital part of our team, vital part of our identity; they’re a vital part of who we are. So that took a blow… That look a lot out of us. But other guys had the opportunity to step up and they did. So I’m proud of them."
Sanders added "We didn’t tackle well today, whatsoever. We didn’t get to the ball as a unit today, whatsoever. We had some busts and a few things. I’m telling you, I hear the calls, and (defensive coordinator Robert Livingston) called a pretty darn good game. He called a really good game, and we just got to execute the calls."
