It was the news that left their fans heartbroken, and now it has emerged Jennifer Lopez reportedly did not want to file for divorce from Ben Affleck .
Oscar-winning actor Ben Affleck 's relationship with Jennifer Lopez was said to be on the rocks after he appeared looking glum months before Jennifer filed for divorce - incredibly turning up in person to hand the papers in on what would have been their wedding anniversary.
Last month, reports emerged the duo were seen publically kissing at family event . It was later played down as a show of solidarity for each other. Now sources have said: "This has been one of the hardest years for Jennifer," and the split itself wasn't the easiest choice.
The source continued to People magazine: "She didn't want to file for divorce. She just had no choice. Nothing was going to change with Ben." Meanwhile just last month the usually stoic Ben was seen out and about since the news of his divorce. The dad-of-three had a smile on his face though the divorce has been nothing but troubling. He was snapped while driving in Brentwood on Tuesday night.
Most of his body was hidden by the car but his hair was neatly styled and his facial hair was well kept . As he drove, Ben kept his window down and he rested his forearm out the window.
Ben was wearing a dark blue suit jacket with a light blue shirt underneath. Through the front windshield, the Argo actor could be seen with a wide smile on his face.
Jennifer recently spoke out about her split from Ben. Speaking to Interview Magazine, the singer said that originally spending time away from Ben felt "lonely, unfamiliar, scary."
She continued: "It feels sad. It feels desperate. But when you sit in those feelings and go, 'These things are not going to kill me,' it’s like actually, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself."
"Being in a relationship doesn’t define me," she added. "I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself. I used to say I’m a happy person, but was still looking for something for somebody else to fill, and it’s just like, 'No, I’m actually good.'"
The two first started dating in the early 2000s, getting engaged and then breaking up days before the wedding. Ben went on to marry actress Jennifer Garner and have three children with her. Jennifer married Latin singer Marc Anthony and had twins Emme and Max.
After their separate divorces, Ben and Jennifer made their way back to each other in 2021. They married a year later in Las Vegas, Nevada. Earlier this year, reports came out that the couple were on the rocks and it only became official when J.Lo filed for divorce on August 20 and listed the date of separation as April 26 of that year. Unlike other high-profile couples, they didn't have a prenup agreement.
According to the Daily Mail , the estranged couple "have been trying to hash out a settlement for months." An insider added that J.Lo wouldn't be so picky normally, she was unhappy with how the relationship ended.
Jenny from the Block is reportedly itemizing their transactions and finding out just how much money Ben spent throughout their marriage. The insider remarked Jennifer was "out for blood."
They continued: "She isn't the one who gave up on their marriage and she's feeling seriously burned and is out for blood ... Ben took so much money out of her, at least that's what she's saying ... she's adding up all those private jet bills she puts on her plastic, the hotels, and meals, clothes, coffee runs, gas."
