Kyle Busch Team Upset With Playoff Driver's Recent On-Track Behavior

Kyle Busch and his No. 8 team have been close to Victory Lane on multiple occasions this year, especially since returning from the Olympic break in August. With five races remaining, time is running out for the two-time champion to extend his record of winning at least one race a year for 20 consecutive seasons.

On Saturday during practice at the Charlotte Roval, Rowdy fans got a sense of the increasing tension on the team radio when spotter Derek Kneeland didn't like how Chase Briscoe was driving around the Richard Childress Racing car.

"What a d***," Kneeland said . "All clear."

After a few seconds of silence, the spotter posed a question.

"Does the 14 have a h***-** for us or what?" he asked. "I don't see why we're getting screwed by him so often lately."

"I don't know," crew chief Randall Burnett succinctly replied, effectively ending the discussion.

Although Kneeland didn't mention specifics, he was likely referring to the late incident at Kansas on September 29 when Busch was running in the lead and attempted to pass the lapped No. 14 car on the outside. However, with minimal room to make the move, the No. 8 got loose and went for a spin, ending any chances at a win.

Most deemed what happened as a racing incident.

Busch and Briscoe will have another chance at battle on Sunday at the Charlotte Roval. While the future Hall of Famer is trying to extend his streak, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver also has something important on the line as he's trying to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

The race starts at 2 p.m. ET and airs on NBC.
