Billy Joel said hello to Hollywood, well, nearby Inglewood, California, on Saturday, October 12, when he played his latest headlining concert at the Intuit Dome. The Piano Man also said hello to a couple of big-name music stars who joined him onstage during the show.

Joel played a marathon 31-song set, and a bit before the halfway point, he welcomed John Mayer to the stage. Mayer added tasteful blues-guitar licks and a couple of beautifully melodic solos to a rendition of Billy’s 1986 hit “This Is the Time.” Mayer previously had played “This Is the Time” with Joel in new York City at Billy’s Madison Square Garden residency show in October 2015 and at one of Joel’s famous final Shea Stadium concerts in July 2008.

Joel also brought out Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose at the Intuit Dome concert. Rose belted out a version of Paul McCartney’s hit 1973 James Bond theme “Live and Let Die,” a song GN’R famously covered in 1991.

fan-shot video, in introducing Axl, Billy told the crowd, “It’s been fun working with this guy.” Rose then embraced Joel before stepping the front of the stage to belt out the tune. Axl incorporated a couple of ear-piercing screams into his performance.

Rose also has joined Joel onstage at a couple of previous shows, including his final Madison Square Garden residency show, on July 25, 2024. At that concert, Axl sang three tunes with Billy—“Live and Let Die,” a cover of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell,” and the Joel classic “You May Be Right.”

More About Joel’s Concert at the Intuit Dome

According to Setlist.fm, Joel also played a snippet of his 1974 song “The Mexican Connection” at the Intuit Dome. This marked the first time he’d performed that tune in concert since 1984.

He also played a few interesting covers, including Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times, Bad Times,” and The Tokens’ 1961 hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” Another highlight was Joel welcoming his nine-year-old daughter Della Rose to the stage to sing “My Life” with him.

    Joel’s Other Upcoming Concert Plans

Joel has more than a dozen upcoming concerts lined up for 2024 and 2025.

His next performance is scheduled for October 25 in San Antonio, Texas. It’s one six upcoming co-headlining dates Joel will play with Sting. His other joint shows with the ex-Police frontman will take place on November 9 in Las Vegas; February 8, 2025, in Indianapolis; April 11, 2025, in Syracuse, New York; May 10, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina; and May 23 in Salt Lake City.

Joel will close out 2024 with headlining gigs on November 23 in Hollywood, Florida, and on New Year’s Eve in Elmont, New York.

The Piano Man also has another concert in Hollywood, Florida, scheduled for January 17, 2025, and a gig in Uncasville, Connecticut, on February 22. Meanwhile, Joel will team up with Stevie Nicks for a March 29, 2025, show in Detroit.

Rounding out his current itinerary are a pair of 2025 concerts in the U.K. They’re scheduled for June 7 in Edinburgh, Scotland, and June 21 in Liverpool, England.

Tickets for most of Joel’s forthcoming concerts can be purchased now via a variety of outlets, including StubHub.
