Liverpool may have already found the perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah should the Egyptian leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Reds winger remains out of contract at the end of the campaign and will become a free agent should he fail to agree to fresh terms at Anfield over the next few months.

Should such a scenario occur, then Liverpool will be keen to find a suitable candidate to take over the reins from the 32-year-old, although they will be incredibly big boots to fill.

However, Liverpool may have already struck gold with one of Salah's national teammates, a player who has already been likened to the former Roma star following an impressive start to the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush has been mooted with a move to Anfield of late and, according to Goal , the Reds will rival Manchester United for his services at the end of the season.

Following nine goals and six assists in just nine games in all competitions already this season, Marmoush's attacking returns have seen him dubbed 'the new Mo Salah'. Conveniently, the pair have already taken to the field for Egypt on a number of occasions.

Marmoush even scored in last month's 3-0 victory over Cape Verde for The Pharaohs, before the pair lined up in Egypt's attack for Friday's 2-0 victory over Mauritania in its latest Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. But it is the 25-year-old's domestic form in the early stages of the season which has really captured the attention of some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Marmoush is currently on a five-match scoring run in the Bundesliga, which includes 12 goal involvements in just five games. That includes braces in his last two games against Holstein Kiel and Bayern Munich , where he also provided an assist in a 3-3 draw with the latter.

Primarily operating as a center-forward for Frankfurt this season, Marmoush is also capable of playing out on the left wing or behind the striker, meaning his versatility makes up a big part of his game - something Liverpool can utilize.

According to another report from Spanish outlet Fichajes , Liverpool has become so impressed with Marmoush's performances in the Bundesliga that it is ready to bring him to the Premier League .

It's claimed that an initial offer of $66million (£50m/€60m) for the striker is in place, although it remains to be seen whether Frankfurt is prepared to accept it, especially as it tries to tie its star player down to a new deal ahead of next summer.
