Classic Pecan Pie: Holiday Dessert Recipe You Will Want to Try

Pecan pie is my favorite holiday dessert, hands down. The homemade flaky crust. The delicious, sweet and rich filling and the toasted pecans flavor.

It all works together so beautifully.

This recipe is for a classic pecan pie. It's easier to make than you might think.

Try this for your family this holiday season!

    Ingredients

    For the Pie Crust:

    • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
    • 1/4 cup ice water

    For the Filling:

    • 1 cup light corn syrup
    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 cups pecan halves

    Directions

To make the pie crust, combine the flour and salt in a mixing bowl, then cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together without overmixing.

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.

Once chilled, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan, then place the rolled dough into the pan, trimming any excess and crimping the edges as desired.

For the filling, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt in a large mixing bowl until well combined. Stir in the pecan halves until they are evenly coated.

Pour the pecan filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading the pecans evenly.

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.

If the edges of the crust brown too quickly, you can cover them with foil. Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing, which helps the filling set further.

For a delightful serving option, enjoy the pie with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!

    What do you think?

Enjoy a slice of pie with a cup of cold milk or hot cup of tea or coffee. And, pair with vanilla icecream.
