    Sweet, Creamy Matcha Latte Recipe: Your Favorite Non-Coffee Drink To Enjoy

    Nothing beats an ice-cold creamy, sweet glass of matcha. Pair it with your favorite milk or milk alternative and it can really hit the spot!

    Here's my version of it...

    Ingredients

    • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
    • 2 ounces hot water (about 175°F or 80°C)
    • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond, oat, or soy)
    • 1-2 teaspoons sweetener (like honey, maple syrup, or sugar), optional
    • Ice (for iced matcha latte)

    Directions

    To start, sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove any clumps. Then, add the hot water to the bowl and whisk the matcha using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small regular whisk until it’s smooth and frothy. Make sure there are no lumps.

    In a separate container, heat the milk until it’s hot but not boiling. If you prefer an iced matcha latte, you can skip heating the milk and just use cold milk instead. If you like your latte sweetened, stir in your desired sweetener into the milk while it’s heating.

    Once the matcha is whisked and the milk is ready, pour the milk into the bowl with the matcha. For a latte with a nice foam, you can froth the milk beforehand using a frother or by shaking it vigorously in a jar with a lid. Stir gently to combine.

    You can dress this up in many ways. Add your favorite jam to the bottom of the drink to make it fruity or drizzle caramel or chocolate syrup to give it added sweetness and a unique sweet flavor.
