Watch Jason Kelce’s ‘Emotional’ Reaction as Couple Gets Engaged Right at His Feet

Jason Kelce recently watched a real-life love story play out right at his feet while spending time with some Philadelphia Eagles fans ahead of the team’s game on Sunday, Oct. 13.

The former Eagles center was participating in some tailgating activities ahead of the Eagles’ Sunday home game against the Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field when he paused to pose for a photo with a man and a woman, both of whom were wearing Eagles jerseys. While the woman quickly took her place beside Kelce for the photo, her partner suddenly got down on one knee and held up a ring.

“Oh my god!” Kelce, 36, could be heard exclaiming. He quickly took a couple of steps back to give the couple some room as the woman put both hands over her face in surprise.

Kelce took additional steps backward as the Eagles fans around him erupted in cheers. He exchanged celebratory high-fives with a few fans as the newly engaged couple absorbed the moment.

New Heights , the podcast that Kelce co-hosts with his younger brother Travis , shared a video of the engagement—and Kelce’s reaction— on X , formerly Twitter, later on Sunday. “Jason didn’t see this one coming 😂,” the podcast’s X account wrote to caption the video. “Congrats to the happy couple!”

“This is so friggin awesome!! The look on Jason’s face!!!” one fan wrote on X as another jokingly used emojis to describe Kelce’s reaction going “from 🙂 to 🤯.”

“🎵 it’s a love story baby just say yes 🎶,” one X user wrote, quoting the lyrics to “Love Story” by Travis’ girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift .

“Him getting emotional is my favorite. Such a good dude,” one fan wrote of Kelce.

“I thought Jason was going to tear up 🥲,” another fan agreed, adding, “he's an emotional guy 🥰.”

While several fans suggested that Kelce might be the couple’s ideal wedding officiant— “If someone proposed directly in front of you like that, you must officiate the wedding. Sorry @JasonKelce, those are the rules,” one fan wrote—others praised the former NFL star for his reaction to the situation.
