Oregon Ducks getting snubbed for AP Poll’s No. 1 ranked team after Ohio State win is absurd

The No. 3 team in the country beat the No. 2 team in the country, while the No. 1 team in the country beat the No. 18 team in the country.

You tell me, which team deserves to be this week's top team in the AP Poll?

Texas entered the week as the top team in the country, and they had a great showing against No. 18 Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, beating them 34-3. That's a good win. Quarterback Quinn Ewers in his first game back looked fairly average, throwing for 199 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, but it was the defense and the lack of ability for Oklahoma's offense that was the biggest storyline.

The Sooners threw for 148 yards. Their leading rusher only had 38 yards. Texas' defense got the quarterback for five sacks, and Oklahoma converted only four of 15 third downs that they faced. This is nothing new for Oklahoma, whose offense ranks 77th in the country in points scored at just over 24. Their 4.3 yards per play ranks 127th. Their third down conversion rate at 26.51% ranks 128th.

It's a good win. It was a really good showing from Texas against a mediocre team.

Oregon had a great win .

Oregon showed up and hosted Ohio State for the first time in their debut season in the Big Ten Conference, doing things against the Buckeyes that nobody has been able to do so far this season.

Ohio State entered Saturday's game having not allowed a 100-yard receiver or running back. Oregon had one of each, with running back Jordan James churning for 115 rushing yards, and wide receiver Evan Stewart piling up 149 receiving yards.

Oregon also snuffed out Ohio State's elite running game. TreVeyon Henderson's long run was 53 yards. Outside of that one run, he and Quinshon Judkins combined for 57 rushing yards on 20 attempts – 2.85 yards per carry.

Let's go further. Ohio State entered the game with the No. 1 defense in the country, holding opponents to 11.0 points per game, 2.8 yards per carry, 87.2 rushing yards, and 166.0 passing yards. The Ducks blew those numbers out of the water, putting up 32 points, 5.0 yards per carry, 155 rushing yards, and 341 passing yards.

I don't know that Oregon could have had more of an impressive victory, save for the special teams leaving some points on the field.

It's not like Texas has had some superior schedule, either. They beat Michigan, which we now know has one of the worst offenses in the country. Their other wins were against Colorado State, UTSA, Louisiana Monroe, and Mississippi State.

Please, I beg you, show me where Texas' win was more impressive than Oregon's. You can't.

Oregon had home field advantage and they should have lost that game. They didn’t beat Ohio State. Ohio State beat themselves at the end of the game.
