The Oregon Ducks achieved a monumental victory Saturday night, upsetting the Ohio State Buckeyes in their first Big Ten matchup. In a thrilling game marked by seven lead changes, Oregon secured a 32-31 win, rising from No. 3 to No. 2 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.

" College GameDay " host Rece Davis initially expressed strong confidence in Oregon's performance, declaring them the No. 1 team in his book after the game.

He tweeted, "Beat that team? You’re number 1 in my book. Congrats @oregonfootball and fans. @OhioStateFB still top 3. What a game. Sign me up for a rematch in Indy. That was sensational. Both teams."

However, less than 24 hours later, following the release of the new AP Poll, Davis revised his rankings. He opted to keep the Texas Longhorns at No. 1, placing the Ducks at No. 2.

His updated post read, "I reconsidered my AP ballot. Agonized a bit. I left Texas #1. If I could rank them side by side I would. I went Texas, Oregon, Ohio State. Oregon worthy of top spot. Texas by a hair for me. But basically toss up. Both (and the Buckeyes) are elite."

Ohio State dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 in the latest AP Poll, while Penn State climbed to No. 3 after an overtime victory against the USC Trojans . The Georgia Bulldogs , Miami Hurricanes , and Alabama Crimson Tide round out the top seven at five, six, and seven, respectively.

This season has seen an uptick in upsets and close games due to conference realignment, making for more competitive football. With the introduction of a 12-team playoff, teams now have a bit of leeway to recover from losses while still staying in the playoff hunt.
