Browns’ Kevin Stefanski makes a questionable decision with Deshaun Watson after loss to Eagles

When something continues to happen over and over, you have to take it for what it is. That is the case with the Cleveland Browns and being a very bad team on the offensive side of the football. Still, the Browns plan to make no change with perhaps the biggest problem on offense.

Cleveland lost to the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 20-16 in Week 6 and it was another putrid game for the offense . After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski said that the team would still be sticking with Deshaun Watson as their starting quarterback going forward.

Cleveland became the first team in 10 years to fail to score 20 points in each of the first six games to start a season. The Browns now have that embarrassing stat to hold onto and to carry into Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Safety Rodney McLeod has as many touchdowns (2) as the offense does in the last three games.

After the game, Stefanski said he seen good moments from Watson and said that he needs some more help from the line in front of him.

"I thought there were some good moments. We need to protect. We need to keep him clean when we can. We had some opportunities. We’ve got to find a way to be more explosive."

Watson was 16-of-23 for 168 yards against the Eagles. The Browns had just 244 yards compared to the Eagles who went above 370 yards. While Watson isn’t the only issue within the offense, the Browns have to try something else. Many of the sacks that the quarterback is taking are self-imposed and it is clear things are not working and likely won’t.

Cleveland’s schedule is tough the rest of the way out and already at 1-5 is a deep, deep hole that the team likely won’t climb out of. It is hard to see them doing it with Watson, so has yet to throw for 200 yards in a game yet this season.

It is soul-searching time in Cleveland. The decision to continue to play Watson is a questionable one. How it plays out will impact many things and jobs could be on that list.
