Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s latest movie Wolfs has gone straight to streaming after being abruptly yanked from cinemas. The move from Apple TV+ has Angelina Jolie doing the happy dance, especially as her career is totally on the up right now, and she is relishing every second of it.

“George and Brad have egg on their face due to Apple’s decision to dramatically curtail Wolfs’ time in theaters,” an insider reveals exclusively to Life & Style about the disastrous situation. “The Wolfs pullback and shift to streaming has been a giant pie in the face for their teams at important companies like CAA and Brillstein Partners, too.”

The source continues, “Everybody is pretty mad about this and the bosses at Apple TV+ keep getting away with this kind of thing because they refuse to interact with the press at all. Sometimes, just because of how much money they have at their disposal, it’s almost like they aren’t accountable to anybody. This decision put George and Brad in a horrible position and Angelina couldn’t be happier this Oscar season, since she’s being fully backed by Apple’s streaming rival Netflix in her Best Actress campaign for her film Maria.”

The insider goes on to say that Angelina, 49, “hates Brad with a passion,” and she “never liked his friendship with George.”

“She is much younger than both of these guys. To her, they’re over the hill and yesterday’s news, and she’s actively reminding people about that [off the record] as she makes her own triumphant press tour for Maria,” the source concludes.

In December 2023, George, 63, stated that he and Brad, 60, negotiated a deal that included Wolfs getting a theatrical release.

“Brad and I made the deal to do that movie where we gave money back to make sure that we had a theatrical release. At the time, that wasn’t as popular an opinion as it has become in the last year and a half now,” the Michael Clayton star told Deadline in an article published on December 19, 2023.

However, the news about the change in plans for Wolfs’ theatrical run was announced in August, shocking even those who worked on the film. Instead of the wide theatrical release like the streaming service originally planned, the film received a limited one-week release in select theaters before making its way to AppleTV+ on September 27. Wolfs’ writer and director, Jon Watts, only discovered the news just a few days before it was announced publicly.

“When we initially made the deal, when I was pitching it to everyone, that was before the last Spider-Man came out. So that was when the entire existential future of theatrical movie going was still up in the air. From that point on, the theatrical experience has really made an impression on me, of how valuable this thing is and how important it is,” Jon, 43, told Vanity Fair in August. “I always thought of this as a theatrical movie. We made it to be seen in theaters, and I think that’s the best way to see it. It’s funny. It’s filled with twists and turns. I tried to do some interesting things visually and I still think that the best way to see it is in theaters.”
