Arch Manning's Dad Stole the Show During the Red River Rivalry

The powers that be in college football pulled off some of their best work on Saturday, as the Week 7 slate of the college football season was loaded from the beginning to the end with fantastic games.

The day was headlined by elite games, such as the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes taking on the No. 3 Oregon Ducks, No. 9 Ole Miss battling with No. 13 LSU, and, of course, the iconic Red River Rivalry between the No. 1 Texas Longhorns and No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners.

It's arguably the best rivalry game in college football that has been played every year since 1900, and while it's typically a back-and-forth game, the 120th version on Saturday was not. Oklahoma led 3-0 early in the first, but gave up 34 unanswered points.

So, while the game was out of hand late in the fourth, ESPN decided to pan to a notable father of a Texas player in the stands. The broadcast put the camera on Cooper Manning, who is the father of Texas' backup quarterback Arch Manning, and brother of former NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning.

While his son didn't get into the action despite shining the past two weeks in place of the injured Quinn Ewers, Cooper was still generating buzz. He happened to have a comically large cowboy hat on, which social media was loving him for.

"think Cooper Manning’s hat is big enough," joked one user.

"Cooper Manning's hat is my favorite ride at Six Flags," commented one fan.

"Outrageous sized hat Cooper Manning is rocking," added another viewer.

"going to dress up as cooper manning in his comically large hat for halloween," wrote another fan.

Cooper's hat was likely inspired by the fact that Saturday's Red River Rivalry game was expected to be played in record-high heat. Not to mention, it appeared he was sitting directly in the path of the Sun.

While Arch didn't see action on Saturday, he did show just how promising the future of Texas is with him at the helm. Following an oblique injury suffered by Ewers in the team's Week 3 game against UTSA, Manning came in and blew up right away. In fact, he hit the ground running to the point where he actually started to build up some Heisman buzz.

On the season, Manning has thrown for 901 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has shown off his ability to use his legs, rushing for three touchdowns.

Maybe we will be treated to more fashion statements from Cooper as the season and Arch's career goes on.
