Pressure Builds for NFL Team to Dismiss Head Coach Despite Win

Being a coach on the hot seat is already tough to navigate, but when you happen to be the coach in a city where fans are known for being ruthless, it only makes it that much worse.

Heading into Sunday's Week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni found himself in that exact position. After leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance in the 2022-23 season, the team was bounced out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round last season.

To make matters worse, they had started the season 10-1, but ended up losing six out of the last seven games. A brutal end to the season that led to Eagles fans losing their patience.

The Eagles came into Sunday with a 2-2 record and ended up winning by a score of 20-16. However, fans are still calling for Sirianni to be fired, and his heckling of the home crowd toward the end of the game seems to have added fuel to that fire.

"Nick Sirianni looking really smart here… taunting and celebrating a NARROW victory over the worst team in the NFL - if he were my coach I’d be forced to fire him tomorrow, he’s out of touch with professionalism & reality," wrote one user.

"Optics with the Eagles players have been bad all year Now the optics of Nick Sirianni are no bueno FIRE NICK SIRIANNI to save the season," added another.

"Definitely getting fired," commented another viewer after seeing the video.

"Get this dude out of here man," chimed in another user.

Ironically, Sirianni taunted the crowd because they could be heard chanting "fire Sirianni" throughout the game. It seems unlikely that his antics will have helped gain him some fan support, but he is clearly more than okay with attacking the fan base.

The win itself wasn't the most impressive, considering the Browns look like the worst team in the league, but to the dismay of Eagles fans, it may have bought the head coach some more time.

Philadelphia is set to hit the road and take on their NFC East rival, New York Giants, next Sunday.
