Some of the most beautiful friendships are unexplainable. You just know that's your person. In Cosmo, the Maremma Sheepdog's case, it's not a person, but instead a wild baby horse named Pinto, and their relationship is nothing short of kismet.

Cosmo and Pinto hit it off from the start. They just get each other. Watch their bond grow stronger with each passing day below.

"Last winter, we bought a wild 6-month-old baby Pinto horse from a kill pen in northern New Mexico after so many of you bought my paintings and prints," the caption begins. "The first week baby Pinto was home with us, our 6-month-old Sheepdog, Cosmo, snuck under the fence and started playing with baby Pinto. since then, the two rascals have been dear friends."

Clearly, @stellamariabaer knew what she was doing by adopting baby Pinto. One look at the way the horse and Sheepdog adore each other is all the dopamine we need. The montage of memories made between these two besties is everything, and their followers agree.

"So beautiful. Thanks for saving these beauties, and keeping them exactly where they are meant to be," one person wrote.

"I seriously couldn’t love this more. I am obsessed with interspecies friendships," another said.

"This is what heaven looks like, I just know it!" another added.

    Maremma Sheepdogs Are Great Guardians

Cosmo knew the moment he met Pinto that the wild horse needed protecting. Luckily, that's right up Cosmo's alley! Dogster explains Maremma Sheepdogs have an innate understand their job is to guard and protect as livestock guardians.

These cuties are similar to the Great Pyrenees, as they're both highly intelligent, loyal, and dependable members of their families, and they do look similar. Though they're considered a gentle giant by those that love them, they sometimes need to warm up to newcomers, so they know they're not a threat. However, they learn quickly who's on their side, and who's a threat.

With independence and leadership as their main characteristics, you can trust these dogs will do their best to keep everyone in their pack safe. The breed has been protecting for centuries, so it's best to help guide that instinct where it's most beneficial.

Basically, you're not likely to train it out of them, so if you have a newly adopted wild baby horse like Pinto around, a Sheepdog like Cosmo will be right by his side for better or worse, which is what makes them so amazing.
