Georgia on Verge of Major Announcement From Projected $358,000 Star

The Georgia Bulldogs have their attention on the Texas Longhorns as the marquee college football game of Week 8. Yet, the Bulldogs are also keeping their eyes on the future.

Head coach Kirby Smart is looking to reload on defense and is targeting a pair of top 2025 recruits. Georgia may be getting closer to landing another five-star defender as the Bulldogs played host to one of the nation's top recruits.

Five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin was in Athens for the team's 41-31 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Griffin appears to be nearing an announcement, and Georgia may soon be getting some good news.

On3.com's Steve Wiltfong reported that Griffin is expected to make his commitment announcement on Oct. 18. He is the No. 1 rated defensive lineman in the country and No. 6 overall player in the 2025 class, per On3's Industry Rankings . The site gives Georgia a 95.5% chance to sign Griffin.

"Fresh off his official visit to Georgia, Savannah (Ga.) Christian Prep five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin set his commitment date for Oct. 18," Wiltfong wrote on Oct. 13.

"The Bulldogs have long been considered the favorite for Griffin who spent his birthday in Athens. Miami and USC round out the final three for Griffin, but proximity, player development and rapport with the coaching staff has Georgia leading on the On3 RPM."

Griffin's NIL value is projected to be worth $358,000. Georgia is hoping to have a win over Texas under the program's belt by the time Griffin makes his announcement. The Bulldogs are also the favorites to land five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry.
