OCT. 13 WARRIORS TOPPLE/LOSE TO PISTONS The Golden State Warriors remained undefeated in the preseason on Sunday night, losing to/beating the Detroit Pistons, xx-xx.
Detroit, who has the worst record in the league last season, was 2-1 entering the contest. With a new supporting cast featuring Tim Hardaway Jr. and Tobias Harris, the Pistons are looking to see massive improvement this season around their young core of Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and Jaden Ivey. Detroit was led by Jaden Ivey, who scored 19 points.
The Warriors were led by Moses Moody, with 14 points. Jonathan Kuminga, who has emphasized shooting as of late , finished three-of-five from deep. Six Warriors finished with double-digit points.
Golden State will look to remain undefeated on Tuesday as they host the Los Angeles Lakers.
OCT. 11 WARRIORS SWEEP SACRAMENTO The Golden State Warriors won on Friday night against the Sacramento Kings, completing the sweep of the California preseason series. The final score was 109-106.
The Warriors were led by Moses Moody, who scored 23 points. Stephen Curry added six points of his own, although he has not been the focal point of the preseason, which makes sense, given that Steve Kerr has to get used to new players.
The Kings' scoring effort was led by De’Aaron Fox who posted 19 points of his own. Both the Kings and Warriors will be vying for a postseason spot in a crowded Western Conference, so the two games' worth of experience could pay off in the regular season.
OCT 9. WARRIORS BEAT KINGS The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings have memorable games over the past two seasons. Wednesday's contest was no different. The two teams had core-shaking moves, with Kings' DeMar DeRozan and Warriors' Buddy Hield leading the fray. Golden State's shooting dominated the night, leading to a 122-112 victory over Sacramento.
The Warriors come into Wednesday's game 1-0 in the preseason after beating the Los Angeles Clippers last Saturday. However, this Kings team is ready to run the floor with the Warriors. The first half ended with the Kings leading 68-66 - both teams came to play, just not defense.
Naturally, the Warriors vets didn't play the second half, leaving it up to the younger players to finish the game. The Warriors' "replacement" for Klay Thompson carried the mantle in the second half. Hield started the game 5-5 from the 3-point line; He finished with 22 points shooting a remarkable 6-7 from behind the 3-point line . On the other end, DeRozan scored 15 points to lead the Kings.
The game was so action-packed, even Kyle Anderson hit a 3-point shot. Golden State scored 100 points in three quarters; defense didn't mean much for either team.
Ultimately, Golden State's 3-point shooting unraveled the Kings hot start. The Warriors finished 28-52 from deep, converting a blistering 53.8 percent.
Sacramento has its chance for redemption on Friday. The Warriors host the Kings, with the game broadcasted on NBA TV, NBC SportsBay Area, and League Pass.
