The New York Giants faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals in their Week 6 matchup at MetLife Stadium in what turned into a defensive battle.

Despite a resilient effort from the Giants defense, their offense faltered. Multiple wasted opportunities loomed large in the 17-7 loss.

The Bengals took an early lead in the first quarter when quarterback Joe Burrow scrambled for a 47-yard touchdown, putting Cincinnati up 7-0. From there, both teams engaged in a defensive struggle, with the Giants unable to capitalize on offensive opportunities and missing multiple field goals.

In the third quarter, the New York finally found some rhythm , driving down the field in a promising 16-play, 79-yard drive. The drive included several critical conversions on fourth down and featured a defensive pass interference penalty that set them up at the Bengals' one-yard line. Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. punched it in for what appeared to be a momentum-shifting touchdown, tying the game at 7-7.

The New York had a chance to tie or take the lead earlier in the fourth quarter but missed a 47-yard field goal. The Bengals would retake their lead with a 37-yard field goal late in the third quarter.

Later in the fourth quarter the Giants would opt to keep the offense on the field during their final possession but would fail to convert the fourth-and-two. Cincinnati would take over on downs and extended its lead to 17-7 with 1:52 left on the clock with a 30-yard touchdown run by Chase Brown.

The Giants settled for a field goal in an attempt to mount a 10-point comeback, but Greg Joseph missed left, ending the effort early.

With this loss, the Giants fell to 2-4 on the season. Offensive inconsistencies have persisted into October and stifled otherwise impressive performances. The team totaled just 251 yards of offense, while the Bengals held firm on defense to secure their victory.

New York will look to rebound against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7.
