    Ingredients

    For the meatballs:
    • 1 pound ground turkey
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (whole wheat or regular)
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tablespoon dried)
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

    For the sauce (optional):
    • 1 cup marinara sauce
    • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

    Directions

    • Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, onion powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
    • Form the meatballs: Use your hands to shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
    • Bake the meatballs: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and golden brown. They should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
    • Serve: If using marinara sauce, heat it in a saucepan while the meatballs bake. Serve the meatballs with the sauce, garnished with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
