Ahmad Rashad, the former sports broadcaster, was speaking at the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame when he was asked a question by legendary filmmaker and New York Knicks fan, Spike Lee. Lee, who was sitting next to, and even brought up Michael Jordan , asked if the Knicks could win the NBA championship next season, got the answer he was looking for from Rashad, who said the Knicks will win it all.

Spike Lee: "You're very knowledgeable about basketball right? You learned a lot from my brother right here from Brooklyn, Michael Jordan, right? In my hand, I have Red Holzman's 1972-73 championship ring from the New York Knicks..."

"It's been over 50 years, are we going to win? We got a squad this year. We got KAT, one of the best point guards in the league [Jalen Brunson], and the defense. What's going to happen this year? Are the Knicks finally going to win a championship after over 50 years?"

Ahmad Rashad: "I think they break that whole thing, I think this is the year. You know why? Must be the shoes!"

Rashad has a very close relationship with Michael Jordan. The two were actually a part of the same fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, during their college days in Oregon and North Carolina respectively. And as a broadcaster, Rashad was perhaps the person in the media that Michael Jordan trusted the most.

As for Spike Lee, he is perhaps the most famous Knicks fan in history. The legendary filmmaker is often spotted courtside at Knicks games rooting for the team, regardless of whether they have a good team or a bad one.

Michael Jordan couldn't help but laugh during the whole ordeal, possibly because of his long-standing friendship with Spike Lee, and finding his decision to ask a question about the Knicks winning a championship to be humorous, while also fitting with his incredible Knicks fandom.

The Knicks Have An Amazing Squad

While this hilarious exchange was taking place, the Knicks were playing at Madison Square Garden against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Knicks beat the Timberwolves 115-110, with an interesting game for Donte DiVincenzo and Karl-Anthony Towns, who were both traded for each other just a few weeks ago.

Karl-Anthony Towns had a solid performance on the night, putting up 16 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 steals as he showed the Timberwolves why they will regret trading him to the Knicks .

As for Donte DiVincenzo, his 15 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal were not what garnered headlines, but rather, his bust-up with the Knicks coaching staff , including Tom Thibodeau and Rick Brunson.

The Knicks will be thrilled with the way their team is coming together. It looks like Towns was the final piece in their contender puzzle, as they look like solidified contenders in the Eastern Conference, that can put their best starting lineup against the Celtics, or any other team, and feel confident in their chances.

Could this be the year for the Knicks to win it all? It might just be, but Knicks fans shouldn't start preparing for a parade just yet, as we all know, anything can happen in the NBA.
