One of the more unique birth stories I've ever heard. Over the weekend,
Brantley Gilbert's wife Amber delivered their third child in the middle of one of his shows, on the tour bus. The country rocker has been married since 2015, and since then they've already welcomed two children, a 7-year old son and a 5-year old daughter. While on stage in Tupelo, Mississippi for a show on his
Off The Rails tour, Gilbert got word that his next child was ready to make his grand entrance. Hey, babies have their own schedule... Gilbert rushed off stage mid-show to be with his wife, who was in the tour bus with her midwife ready to give birth. He then returned to the stage a little while later to share the good news:
"We got a baby Mississippi!" Brantley was obviously emotional when he got back out there, getting hugs from his entire band and crew. And he was still shaking as he explained to the crowd that he got to catch his baby boy as he was being born in the tour bus in the parking lot of a show in Tupelo, Mississippi.
And of course the crowd would have understood if he canceled the rest of the show, but he explained to his fans that he wanted to get back out there to celebrate with the people who have had his back throughout his entire career:
"I'm usually not this much of a b*tch, but... But I gotta tell y'all, I know it seems crazy to come back out, and a lot of you moms are probably in here like, 'What the f*** is wrong with this dude?' But for 20 years this is the only life I've ever known. And I know a lot of you have been coming to shows for 20 years and had my back for 20 years, and I can't imagine being anywhere else. God bless y'all, man." And today, the couple joined FOX News Channel’s
FOX & Friends to talk to Kayleigh McEnany about the whole journey, and Brantley explained that they had a midwife out on the road with them just in case something like this happened. They didn't think the baby would come for another week, though:
"I can't say this was on my bingo card, but it was -- it was kind of crazy. We actually had a midwife out with us. We were prepared if it were to happen, but she had had a great night the night before. So we thought we had a week or so left and we didn't." Amber says it happened very quickly and she was ready when it did:
"Oh gosh, I don't know what I was thinking at that moment other than I have to get this baby out. Oh, I went from reading a book in the bed to calling the midwife in a matter of minutes. So I was just ready to get the show on -- my show on the road, not his." Brantley explained that he had joked before about getting back out onstage if the baby came during a show, though when everything happened the way it did, his tour manager informed him that they could still finish it if he started back in the next 15 minutes. He says Amber had a "look of understanding," and told him he needed to go finish the concert, so he did. It honestly sounds kind of crazy, but Amber knew it wouldn't take that long and she wanted to soak up some special time with her new baby:
"I knew it would be quick and he would be back. And we had, I -- I had time to get cleaned up and just sit with my baby for a minute. So it was fine." They named their little boy Abram, and it sounds like they're all doing great. https://www.instagram.com/p/DBFB4WUSvHW/ And I have to add that Amber looks absolutely amazing during the interview. It's hard to even imagine just a couple days ago she gave birth, much less in a tour bus with no medicine or anything... just beyond impressive. Congratulations to Amber and Brantley on their sweet new baby boy, and you can check out the interview here: Watch the latest video at
