Five-Star Plus+ DL Justus Terry’s visit to Texas this weekend will be an official visit

Texas has jumped in with both feet to recruit Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Justus Terry . In recent weeks, defensive line coach Kenny Baker has reached out to Terry, the two have been in communication and On3 confirmed last week that the No. 8 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking would visit Austin for the Georgia game.

It will be a little more than just a casual unofficial visit.

“My visit to Texas this weekend will be an official visit,” Terry told On3. “They have been coming real hard for me since we started talking. I talk to the coaches every other day which is more than most other coaches I talk to.”

What has Texas on his radar?

“They are not too far from home. They have a great program right now and I see it being better the next couple of years. It will feel good to come in and make an impact right away. The coaches are really determined to find the right fit.

“Them telling me that I will play hybrid defensive end and how they would move me around and free me up in their defensive scheme sounded good, so I decided to add them to my list. I am looking forward to getting out there this weekend and finding all the answers to my questions.”

This is big for Texas. They will get Terry and his family on campus for 48 hours with a chance to become a true contender.

Texas has 21 commitments and the Longhorns rank No. 6 in the Team Recruiting Rankings , but defensive line is still a big need in this class. Terry has become a top target and they will roll the red carpet out for the star out of Manchester (Ga.) this weekend.

The 6-foot-4.75, 275-pounder has been committed to Georgia and USC at different times. Georgia has been the favorite since he re-opened his recruitment earlier this summer, but Texas will see if they can change that this weekend.

Alabama and Florida State remain in this race. Terry is expected to announce his decision early in December.
