T.J. Holmes faced a grueling injury while running the Chicago Marathon alongside girlfriend Amy Robach , leading him to be taken away in an ambulance.

On Sunday, October 13, the former Good Morning America anchor documented the start of the marathon in his Instagram Stories. He posted that he made it to mile 13 and then to mile 15. T.J., 47, also shared several pictures of his fellow marathon runners around him as well as views of the city.

But then, fans grew very concerned when he posted a photo of himself on a stretcher in an ambulance wearing his marathon clothes. “So, this happened,” he wrote with a crying emoji.

Amy, 51, also shared a photo in her Instagram Stories of T.J.’s legs strapped into the stretcher as she sat beside him in the ambulance. “Mile 21 and the Achilles gave out,” she wrote alongside the photo, clarifying the nature of her boyfriend's injury.

The marathon injury came just a few weeks after the couple revealed that they had moved in together . They shared the news during a September 30 episode of the “Amy & T.J.” podcast. Amy explained that her daughter Ava was living in a roach-infested apartment with her roommate and needed a place to stay, so they moved into Amy’s apartment. Amy decided to go live with T.J. in the meantime.

“I’ve just said, ‘Hey y’all, knock yourselves out. I’ll be at T.J.’s.'" Amy, who also shares daughter Annalise with ex-husband Tim McIntosh , said during the episode.

"This is what you do for your kids," T.J. chimed in. "I know you're excited to be able to help them out, and this is what it's for."

"I've enjoyed the time that we've had together,” he added. “It's been a little different but I've liked it ... where we know where we're going to end up every night instead of having a plan."

They said that they were happy to be living together and had not faced any major issues while sharing a space so far. They did agree that the temperature of the apartment has been either "too cold" or "too hot."

"Other than that, we've been good," T.J. assured podcast listeners.
