DeSoto County Body Found; Mother Believes it Could Be Her Missing Son

A woman who says her son has been missing for forty-six days is now waiting for answers about a body that has been discovered in DeSoto County. She believes, after speaking with investigators about the situation, that the deceased is her son.

Maranda Davis, according to WJTV, reported her son, 26 year old Brandon McNeal, missing to Olive Branch Police in August. Davis stated that Olive Branch Police Department did not release the information about McNeal publicly due to his drug addiction.

However, the Olive Branch PD has released a statement on October 12th, 2024. According to the statement, the police department never stated they would not be pursuing the case or working to locate McNeal. In contrast, Olive Branch PD has been actively investigating McNeal's disappearance, and stated that all leads to date have been pointing to McNeal being spotted in Memphis.

"He is bipolar and he is schizophrenic and he is my child. I love my kid, and everyone needs help," Davis said.

DeSoto County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the remains of a body were found in DeSoto County on Polk Lane.

The identity of the deceased will not be released until the autopsy has been performed. Olive Branch Police Department concluded its statement on October 12th by reiterating the department's commitment to McNeal's case and continuing to investigate his disappearance and current whereabouts.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
