The 2024 Shriners Children's Open is set to get underway on Thursday, Oct. 14, and several players will enter this week's event confident they can secure the victory. Tom Kim is the back-to-back champion of this event and he'll look to make history with another strong showing in Las Vegas. Adam Hadwin recorded a runner-up finish at the Shriners Children's Open in 2023 and he's expected to be in the mix again when play gets underway from TPC Summerlin.
According to the latest 2024 Shriners Children's Open odds, Kim is listed as the 12-1 favorite to repeat. He's followed by Davis Thompson (25-1), Taylor Pendrith (25-1) and Tom Hoge (28-1) on the PGA odds board. Some notable longshots in the 2024 Shriners Children's Open field include Rickie Fowler (70-1), Daniel Berger (90-1) and Gary Goodland (100-1). Before locking in your 2024 Shriners Children's Open picks or entering any PGA DFS tournaments on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .
SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.
This same model has also nailed a whopping 13 majors entering the weekend, including the 2024 Masters -- its third Masters in a row -- and this year's PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.
One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Shriners Children's Open: Taylor Pendrith (25-1), one of the top favorites, stumbles this week and barely cracks the top 10. Pendrith has recorded one win and six top-10 finishes in 2024, finishing on top of the leaderboard at the CJ Cup in May. He's also finished T-14 or better in four of his last five starts on the PGA Tour, but he's struggled mightily with accuracy off the tee in 2024.
In fact, the 33-year-old enters this week's event ranked 140th in driving accuracy (56.40%). He also ranks 87th in strokes gained: off the tee (0.064) and 99th in greens in regulation percentage (66.20%). He's not a strong pick to win it all and there are far better values in the 2024 Shriners Children's Open field. See who else to fade here .
Another surprise: Jhonattan Vegas, a massive 50-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.
In order to score well at TPC Summerlin, players will need to be extremely accurate with their approach shots and few do it better than Vegas. The 40-year-old enters this week's event ranked second in greens in regulation percentage (72.70%) and 26th in strokes gained: approach to green (0.409). He's also been extremely effective with a driver in his hands, ranking fifth in total driving (94), seventh in strokes gained: off the tee (0.634) and 11th in driving distance (313.1). Those impressive stats, plus his long odds, make him a strong value pick for your 2024 Shriners Children's Open bets. See who else to back here .
