Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." ~ Carl Jung

To live our best life and hop off autopilot, we must grow our self-awareness and be deliberate with each choice we make. My awareness started on my yoga mat and then carried into every aspect of my life. I began journaling, meditating, walking alone in nature, and doing hobbies that let me know myself better. I could tune out the need for external validation and go within for my needed answers. Doing so helps me manage my thoughts and process my feelings.

Living consciously is a lifestyle choice. It takes effort to stop mindlessly going through the motions each day, but when we live more deliberately, it brings contentment. In Sanskrit, the term for contentment is Santosha. Santosha allows me to be grateful for what I have, to need less, to detach from outcomes, and to surrender to what is.

Over 95% of our thoughts are subconscious and often cause us to self-sabotage. Living consciously allows us to unlock those thoughts and stop self-limiting behaviors.

    Ways to Live Consciously

    • Form connections with inspiring, supportive people.
    • Get in touch with your spirituality.
    • Practice gratitude daily.
    • Travel to broaden perspectives and grow.
    • Set life goals, large and small.
    • Be aware of how your decisions, emotions, and behaviors affect those around you.
    • Simplify, declutter, and donate. Less is more.
    • Live in the present moment. Avoid multitasking, which causes distractions. Engage your senses, and whatever you are doing, be all in.
    • Speak less, listen more. Practice active listening.
    • Watch for the tiny miracles unfolding each day. When we are busy, we miss a lot, but we are mindful that the universe is inspiring.
    • Explore personal strengths and weaknesses.
    • Practice daily positive affirmations. Doing so can help unlock and reprogram self-limiting beliefs buried deep in the subconscious mind.
"Awareness is all about restoring your freedom to choose what you want instead of what your past imposes on you." ~Deepak Chopra

Why Conscious Awareness and Living are Important

Raising conscious awareness makes us more appreciative and resilient. It also helps us to understand our interconnectedness with all living beings. Union, oneness, and realizing that you are a divine being, one with God, is what enlightenment is about. Enlightenment is the ultimate spiritual goal because there, we can detach from the stressors in life and feel at peace.

    Benefits of Higher Consciousness

    • Personal and social awareness
    • Improved relationships
    • reduced stress and anxiety
    • Improved well-being- spiritually, mentally, and physically
    • Better time management
    • Acceptance and nonjudgment of the self and others.
"An unintentional life accepts everything and does nothing. An intentional life embraces only things that will add to the mission of significance." ~John C. Maxwell

    Final Thoughts

"Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as a means to take ahold of your mind again." ~Thich Nhat Hanh

I raised my consciousness by adopting the yogic lifestyle, which includes breathwork, ancient spiritual philosophy, and meditation. My physical yoga on my mat increases balance and flexibility. When our bodies are off balance, it is often caused by many thoughts bouncing around in our minds.

It is essential we pay attention to how we spend our time. How much time is spent mindlessly scrolling? How much time is spent on work? How much time is spent with loved ones and allowing ourselves to enjoy life?

We should also consider how we feel about ourselves. Are we practicing kind self-talk? Are we getting enough rest?

Conscious living allows us to be more disciplined, which helps us achieve our goals. Conscious living is a constant journey. We can always learn more as we tune out the external chaos and go within. We gain confidence, contentment, and clarity the more we practice conscious living. It has allowed me to make better decisions and respond rather than react which is extremely empowering.

Finally, consider how your actions affect the planet. Try to eat consciously and buy consciously.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Comment and let me know if you are on autopilot, living conscioulsy, or somewhere in between. Regardless, you are amazing.

    Peace & Light,

    Libby

I love your suggestions about becoming less stressed, taking control of my own actions and behaviors. ❤️👍I have a TBI and have been working on the things you suggest for years!! With a TBI, I watch neighbors and uniformed jerks try to cause negative reactions for me! I used to stumble on everything, but as I have been doing counseling and reading the Bible I have better control of myself and my behavior. I have faith that God protects me from these evil, delusional people that think it's all about them!! Keep posting helpful articles👍🥰💯
