Utah's Kyle Whittingham Makes Devastating Cam Rising Announcement

After going down in the Utah Utes' Week 2 game against the Baylor Bears with a hand injury, seventh-year quarterback Cam Rising returned for Utah's Week 7 game against the Arizona State Sun Devils.

It was abundantly clear that Rising wasn't 100% early in the game, and a play that saw his ankle get rolled up on certainly didn't help him out by any means. Rising was immobile and couldn't make throws beyond 10 yards, and was more detrimental to the team than helpful in the 27-19 loss.

While Utah fans are all well aware he's a competitor, many were left wondering why head coach Kyle Whittingham didn't turn to freshman Isaac Wilson.

On Monday, Whittingham who, is typically known for being secretive about injuries, actually provided an update on Rising, and it wasn't a good one. The head coach told the media that Rising will be out "indefinitely," and that Isaac Wilson will be taking over as the team's starting quarterback.

"Tough weekend in Tempe, Cam Rising is out indefinitely, Isaac Wilson will be our starter until further notice," Whittingham said.

The younger brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson has had some growing pains in his true freshman season, but it's clear he's still the best option.

On the year, Wilson has thrown for 830 yards with six touchdowns and seven picks while completing 55.7% of his passes. Utah also has Brandon Rose, who was expected to start in place of the injured Rising last season before going down with an injury of his own, and the team landed former five-star quarterback Sam Huard in the transfer portal.

Devastating to who? Not the team or the fans…bad choice of words for a so called journalist. For all of us Utes fans, it was certainly not devastating but inspirational!
