Detroit Lions defensive end Aiden Hutchinson suffered a scary injury during a game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but the team said on Monday that the 24-year-old is expected to make a full recovery. Less certain, however, is when he might return to the field.

Hutchinson was injured in the third quarter of the game as he attempted a sack on the Cowboys' star quarterback Dak Prescott , when the Lions were winning by 34–6. Unfortunately, his left leg collided with one of his teammates in the scuffle and resulted in fractures to his tibia and fibula. Hutchinson quickly went down, and a medic cart eventually came to haul him away.

In the wake of his injury, both Hutchinson's teammates and players from the Cowboys rallied around him to show their support.

"Aiden Hutchinson underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured tibia and fibula at Baylor White Medical Center in Irving, Texas last night," the Lions said in a statement . "Hutchinson will return to Detroit this week and is expected to make a full recovery. There is no timeline for his return to play."

Despite the loss of their second overall 2022 draft pick, the Lions ended up crushing the Cowboys in an history-making 47–9 game. The so-called scorigami marked the first time in NFL history that a game has ever ended with an exact 47–9 score, making it the 1087th unique final score in the history of the league. Its the third scorigami from the 2024 season so far, putting it on track to possibly surpass 2023, which had a total of nine scorigamis.
