‘Alien: Romulus’ Comes to Digital, But When Will ‘Alien: Romulus’ Be Streaming on Hulu and Disney+?

The new Alien movie, aka Alien: Romulus is coming to digital platforms, just in time to celebrate spooky season with xenomorphs and face huggers.

Directed by Fede Álvarez, and written by Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues, Alien: Romulus is the seventh film in the Alien franchise (if you don’t count the two Alien Vs. Predator crossover films, that is). But technically, this new movie is a standalone “interquel,” which takes place between the events of the first movie Alien (1979) and the second movie Aliens (1986). Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu star in the film as a group of young space colonists who come face to face with some terrifying outer space creatures.

Here’s what you should know about how to watch Alien: Romulus online, and where and when to expect to see Alien: Romulus on streaming services.

Alien: Romulus will be released on premium video-on-demand—to buy on digital platforms like Amazon Prime , Apple TV , Vudu , and more —on Tuesday, October 15.

The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime , the movie costs $29.99 to buy. The film comes with extended and alternate scenes cut from the theatrical release, along with the following bonus features: “Return to Horror: Crafting Alien: Romulus,” “Inside the Xenomorph Showdown,” and “Alien: A Conversation.”

Alien: Romulus will also be released on 4K Ultra HD™ and on Blu-ray™ on December 3.

Alien: Romulus will likely stream on Hulu and Disney+ eventually. Alien: Romulus is a 20th Century Fox movie, a production company that has been owned by Disney since 2017. So you may eventually see Alien: Romulus stream on Disney+, or on the Disney-owned streamer, Hulu—or both. Right now, most of the other Alien films are streaming on both Hulu and Disney+, so it seems likely the movie will come to both streamers.

The Alien: Romulus Hulu streaming release date has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when Alien: Romulus will stream on Hulu and Disney+ based on previous releases from 20th Century.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes , another recent 20th Century movie, was released on Hulu and Disney+ in the U.S. on August 2, about three months after opening in theaters. But the release pattern has varied: The Boogeyman came to Hulu about four months after opening in theaters, while A Haunting in Venice began streaming on Hulu about six weeks, or 45 days, after opening in theaters. Based on all of this, we can predict that Alien: Romulus will stream on Hulu and Disney+ around November or December 2024—in other words, sometime between three and four months after the movie opened in theaters.
