Damaged section of vital California highway to reopen following extensive repairs

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY – Caltrans has announced that a small section of State Route 192 between Orizaba Road and Parma Park will reopen on Wednesday, October 23, after a full closure for storm damage repair work.

Following the reopening, travelers can expect intermittent one-way reversing traffic control near Parma Park as repair work continues. This one-way traffic control will be in effect Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM, with completion anticipated in fall 2024.

The need for repairs arose after heavy spring rains caused a slipout, necessitating the construction of a retaining wall in the affected area. Given the narrow roadway and steep terrain, the construction equipment requires full use of the roadway, prompting the full closure to ensure the safety of both the traveling public and the work crew.
