Jelly Roll is looking back on his tumultuous life journey in a new sit-down interview with life coach Jay Shetty .

On the latest episode of the Think Like a Monk author's On Purpose podcast , which released on Monday, Oct. 14, he chatted with the "Wild Ones" singer about the lasting impact of childhood trauma, overcoming inner demons and addiction, and the transformative power of love and healing.

Among other things, like speaking on his estranged relationship with his mother—who struggled with mental health issues and drug addiction—and father—who dealt with alcoholism—and the influence that music had on him, he also was asked about an altercation he had at age 15 that landed him behind bars.

"You went to jail for an armed robbery at 15. Have you ever thought about, or maybe you have even met them, but have you ever thought about what you'd say to that person if you met them again?" Shetty asked the "Save Me" artist.

In response, Jelly Roll admitted, "It's the best question I've ever been asked. I've avoided this question, hoping, because I don't know how to answer it, Jay."

"I really want to have a conversation with them. I've thought about reaching out," he said, continuing to dive into his feelings behind the ordeal. "I would just ask them to understand, I would ask them to just one, forgive me because there's no excuse in that."

Getting vulnerable, he continued: "The first accountability is no matter how old I was, I had no business taking from anybody. Just the entitlement that I had, this, the world owed me enough that I could come take your stuff. Just what a horrible, horrible way to look at life and people. Just what a horrible way to interact with the earth."

All in all, the 39-year-old adamantly expressed he would offer up his sincere apologies.

"I would apologize for that first. Just flat, just one accountability is what I'm so big on now, Jazz. Just looking at them now and going, man, I, and then I would hope they would give me a little grace as I explained to them that I was 15," Jelly Roll said.
