Browns Fans Have a 2-Word Answer for Benching Deshaun Watson

The Cleveland Browns suffered what can only be described as a disappointing loss against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in a matchup. The Browns were outmatched in every aspect of the game, including on offense.

The Eagles in no way played a flawless game, they just made fewer mistakes and took better advantage of those mistakes by the Browns .

Quarterback Deshaun Watson has never been the former Pro Bowler that we saw in Houston - the player the Browns thought they gave up a haul of draft capital to get - since arriving in Cleveland.

Watson was sacked three times and totaled just 49 yards passing in the first half, in a close game that could've gone their way had the Browns' offense been anything but stagnant.

Many have called for the benching of Watson, and others for coach Kevin Stefanski to give up playcalling duties. Stefanski has already said there will be no change at quarterback and he will continue to call plays.

So this season may be lost.

But what about next year? Bleacher Report thinks there could be help on the way if the Browns draft Cam Ward of the Miami Hurricanes.

"One thing the Browns could do is to make Watson the most expensive backup quarterback in NFL history or release him with a post-June 1 designation next season. Either way, the Browns would need a starting quarterback on a rookie contract. Taking one of the top signal-callers in the draft would allow them to make that kind of decision and there's a lot to like about Cam Ward."

Ward has received high praise from one of B/R's draft experts:

"Cam Ward is among the most gifted throwers in the NFL draft class. The combination of arm talent, mobility/athleticism, and accuracy is growing among NFL scouts."

Ward is an early Heisman candidate and has completed 69.2 percent of his throws for 2.219 yards and 20 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He's also gained 161 yards and three more touchdowns on the ground.

The Browns' offense needs a shot in the arm. Or maybe just a new arm. Ward could be that guy.
