Liverpool has been handed another big boost ahead of their return to Premier League action with Harvey Elliott making his return to the pitch .

The midfielder has been out for just over a month after fracturing his foot while on duty with England U21s in September , and is expected to make his return later this month. His recovery would appear to be on well on course, with Liverpool sharing pictures of Elliott at the club’s training ground.

The 21-year-old is shown running around the pitch at the AXA Training Centre with one of the Reds’ coaching staff. That will be a welcome sign for Arne Slot as he prepares for Liverpool’s return to action against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Reds boss has already been handed a number of boosts during the international break, with Virgil van Dijk , Mohamed Salah , and Kostas Tsimikas all returning early without picking up any injuries, although the latter did miss both of Greece’s games through illness.

Curtis Jones , meanwhile, didn’t travel with England to Finland on the weekend , with his absence from Lee Carsley’s squad being put down for personal reasons. Trent Alexander-Arnold came through that game unscathed, having picked up yet another man-of-the-match award after scoring a superb free-kick.

Liverpool has also been boosted by Alexis Mac Allister 's return to full training with Argentina. The midfielder had been left on the bench during the world champions’ 1-1 draw with Venezuela after picking up a groin problem in the Reds’ win over Crystal Palace but is back in contention for their clash with Bolivia.

Alisson Becker, though, is facing another lengthy spell out of the side after being forced off at Selhurst Park. Caoimhin Kelleher will be expected to deputize in the Brazilian’s absence, although he didn’t enjoy the best of international breaks with the Republic of Ireland .

Slot will be hoping for better news on Federico Chiesa . The Italian missed the games against Bologna and Palace before the break after picking up a knock in training.

Liverpool.com says: That’s a big boost to see Elliott back out on the grass. His injury could not have come at a much worse time, considering he almost certainly would have got more game time over the past few weeks.

Hopefully it won’t be long before we see him back in action. With no let-up in the schedule for the Reds, he will definitely be needed.
